Karnataka is the number one state in India in terms of the number of nursing colleges and aspirants looking for nursing admission. The state offers BSc nursing programs across various colleges in different districts.
However, getting admission into these colleges was relatively easy as most colleges used to admit students based on the 12th marks of the students. But in 2023, the government of Karnataka introduced an entrance exam for BSc nursing in Karnataka. (Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission into BSc Nursing Courses.
Eligibility for Entrance Exam for BSc Nursing in Karnataka (CET for BSc Nursing)
- The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) conducts the BSc entrance exam for admission to BSc Nursing courses.
- Eligibility criteria include passing a 10+2 physics, chemistry, biology, and English subjects with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC).
- The minimum age requirement is 17 years as of 31st December.
- The application fee is Rs 500 for the general category and Rs 1000 for non-Karnataka candidates.
- As per government rules, seats are reserved for SC/ST, OBC, rural candidates, Kannada medium, etc.
- Admissions are based on merit determined by entrance exam marks and reservation rules.
- Documents like 10th and 12+2 marks cards, study certificates, caste certificates, rural certificates, etc, are required for verification during document verification. ( If applicable)
